A grant to Robust Tower Ranch may help more youngsters attend day camp this summer. The Cuivre Brook Electrical Community Trust lately awarded a $3,000 grant to Robust Tower Ranch to help give cheap summer day camp possibilities for kids in St Charles, Warren and Lincoln counties. Camp opportunities are available to kids ages 7-14.
The camp, located at six hundred Sunlight Lane south of Wright Town , hosted 286 campers last year. The Cuivre Stream grant will cut expenses for roughly 85 kids this summer.
The Robust Tower Ranch staff works to keep camp charges as low as practicable drawing from a base of trained volunteers, donations and fund-raising activities. With cheap charges and camp scholarship awards, kids whose finance circumstances would otherwise hinder them from attending camp have the chance to experience a range of outside activities during the summer months.
“we are going to great lengths to show God’s love for each kid and hope that kids leave feeling inspired, valued and respected, ” asserts Linda Glenn, community panel director for the non-denominational, non profit Christian camp. Activities include swimming, survival talents, horse riding, archery and canoeing, as well as skits, songs, crafts and Bible time.
“Our trustworthy volunteer base steps forward to fill almost forty five positions needed to completely staff the camp, ” Glenn adds, noting that at-risk youth regularly need additional supervision.
Volunteers include many folks who commit only a few hours per day, or teach just one activity. “Most children don’t have a method to camp, so we also offer transport in some areas, ” Glenn says. The camp has the capacity to host 320 kids, according to Glenn. “there are just a few camp facilities like Robust Tower Ranch in east central Missouri with ‘open’ programs like ours, ” she asserts. “We continue to work with area charities to be certain families learn all about the camp.”. The grant was made feasible by Cuivre Brook Electrical Cooperative members who take part in Operation Round Up, giving from one to ninety nine cents every month with electrical bill payments. These monthly contributions help address unmet wants in the areas of youth, education, health, home weatherization, community and emergency services in portions of St Charles, Lincoln, Warren and Pike counties.
