Across the water, you will be able to identify the London Eye, behind which is favored attraction the London Aquarium alongside the Tate Modern and, if you are in the right spot, St Paul’s Cathedral, which lies opposite the Tate concealed by a circle of other buildings.
On the opposite side of Westminster, you can walk towards Trafalgar Square, passing Downing Street on the way, and also make your way thru St James Park, which is just outside Buckingham Palace.
